Jay Brickman

Jay Brickman is the Vice President of Government Services for Crowley Maritime Corporation.  Crowley is a privately owned company that began operations in 1892. Today it is one of the most diversified shipping and logistics companies in the United States. Crowley began developing its strategic approach to the Cuban market in 1978.

While presently based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, previously Jay was stationed in Managua, Nicaragua, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Caracas, Venezuela and Mexico City, Mexico. He has directed Crowley's operations in the Eastern Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Cuba. He has lived and worked in Latin America for the last 30 years.

Jay's University studies concentrated on the international economics and Latin American affairs. He received his B.A. from the University of Florida and his M.A. from the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University. He also studied at the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico.

He has served on the Latin American Trade Committee of the US Department of Commerce , which promotes programs with the Center of Latin American Studies at the University of  Florida and is a founding member of the Cuban Studies Fund at Harvard University.
