Carlos A. Saladrigas

Carlos A. Saladrigas is a co-founder and Chairman of Regis HR Group.  Additionally, he is a member of the board of directors of Progress Energy

In 1994, Saladrigas co-founded The Vincam Group, Inc., a Professional Employer Organization (PEO). In 1996, Saladrigas took the company public and by 1998, Vincam had revenues exceeding $1 billion and was named the largest Hispanic-owned company in the U.S. by Hispanic Business. In March 1999, Vincam merged with Automatic Data Processing Inc. (NYSE:ADP). Saladrigas has been appointed by various Florida governors to serve on the Florida Board of Employee Leasing Companies, the Workers’ Compensation Oversight Board, the Employers’ Advisory Group of the Florida Department of Labor, and on the Board of Enterprise Florida, the state’s economic development agency.

Saladrigas is currently a Trustee of the University of Miami, where he has served as vicechairman. He has also served as trustee for Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and for The Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. He is a member of the board of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, Pax Catholic Communications, and of Catholic Charities for the Archdiocese of Miami. He has served on numerous committees of the United Way of Miami- Dade County, and has chaired the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation’s Walk for the Cure. Saladrigas is a member of the Miami Business Forum, the Florida Council of 100, and a co-founder and cochair of the Cuba Study Group.

Saladrigas has received the Alumnus of Distinction award from the University of Miami, was named Florida Entrepreneur of the Year in 1997, the Man of the Year award from the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, and the Thomas Carvel Immigrant Entrepreneur Award from the National Immigration Forum. In 2002, the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust named Saladrigas Top Volunteer Advocate, citing his leadership on ethics and public accountability. Saladrigas was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2007.

A CPA and CMA, Saladrigas holds an associate’s degree from Miami-Dade Community College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration, cum laude, from the University of Miami, and an MBA, with honors, from Harvard University. A high school dropout, he completed college by attending night classes.

Born in Cuba in 1948, Saladrigas came to the U.S. in 1961 as an unaccompanied minor through Operation Pedro Pan, a plan organized to allow children to escape communist rule in Cuba. Married to Olga Maria Leon since 1968, they have four children and three grandchildren Updated: January 2009.
